Two children return to the beach they visited years ago and reunite with the mermaid they once met. They remember swimming with her and how pristine the water was back then. Unfortunately, the mermaid and her friend, Sully the Seagull, inform them that the oceans are now filled with rubbish and plastic, and the land and air are polluted. Determined to find a hero to save Earth, the children share with the mermaid and Sully how their school is encouraging students to reduce their ecological footprint. This leads to the realisation that they, along with all the children on Earth, are "Climate Crusaders" united to fight pollution. Together with the mermaid and Sully, they explore various ideas from scientists and ordinary people to combat pollution, understanding that we are the heroes who will save the planet because "The Future's Up to Us."
